Collating iTunes Tracks
With Amazon having released its CloudPlayer service this week, I thought I would give it a go. You can upload 5GB of your own music in the Cloud Drive (backed by Amazon S3) using your browser, and play the music back from anywhere using a web browser or, for those in the US, the Amazon MP3 Android app.
My music collection is significantly larger than 5GB however, so I wanted to upload a couple of playlists I listen to most often. I use iTunes on the Mac for my playlists, but all my music is arranged on the hard drive by Artist/Album. This made picking the tracks to upload in the web browser problematic - I really didn't fancy manually selecting all the tracks in each iTunes playlist, so I wrote a quick AppleScript. The app will collate all the tracks from the playlist(s) you select, and create symbolic links to them within a folder that you specify.
The result is one folder with a bunch of symbolic links. It will only work on Mac. Here's the app and source code.
